- Shrewsbury Morris were formed in 1976
- We provide an opportunity for both men and women to practice and perform traditional and more recently composed dances in the traditional style, celebrating and keeping alive the rich traditions of our country
- We are comprised of the Shrewsbury Lasses, The Shrewsbury Bull and Pump Morris Dancers and Shrewsbury Clog (mixed)
- The Shrewsbury Lasses are a women’s team who perform garland, handkerchief and short stick dances
- The Shrewsbury Bull and Pump Morris Men are a men’s team who perform dances based on traditional dances from the Welsh Borders as well as Cotswold Morris Dances and Sword Dances (we do not black our faces!)
- The teams also perform some dances together in a ‘mixed set’ to provide variety to a performance
- Shrewsbury Clog perform traditional clog and step dances from all over the country
- We meet almost every Thursday at Sundorne School and Sports College, Corndon Crescent, Shrewsbury. Please ring or email to check we are meeting on a particular Thursday.
